Gilgamesh howled with rage. He had been denied what was his. Several long years he had waited with that damned priest and he had been denied his prize at the very last moment. His body disintegrated and he dematerialized back to the Throne of Heroes.
He found himself in a void. He waited for the void to fill him, to return him to an abstract state of nothing and potential, but it never came. Gilgamesh was not a patient demigod even at the best of times, so he roared with a commanding voice, “Corrupted chalice! Return me to nothing! Get on with it!”
A smile appeared in the void. No, to call it a smile wasn’t quite right. It wasn’t a smile of open teeth, but a grin with fangs bore. The grin defined itself more and a face appeared around that white row of sharp teeth in the endless void. The face spoke.
“King of Heroes… you have been defeated. By a woman who you attempted to take as your own. She rejected you.”
